ASCA LARGE STOCK HERDING TRIAL

A Course on Saturday, May 17th , B Course on Sunday, May 18th.
Day of trial entries taken from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. both days (if space available). Handler’s meeting - 8:30a.m; first run - 9:00a.m. both days.

Bitches in season run last. Must be crated at other times
Stock: cattle and sheep. The cattle are dog broke (but not course trained) veal calves that have been worked by an aussie. The sheep are provided by an aussie trainer/ trialer.

Entries: pre entry fee for sheep $25, for cows $35. Day of trial entry fee(depending on available space) sheep $30, cattle $40. Entries are limited (20 sheep, 12 cattle) so get your entries in early. Entries open April 1. None accepted with a post mark before that date.

Accommodations:
no motels in the immediate area take dogs (you can try the Super Eight and Motel 6 south of Hartford).
Camping (tents, RV’s, etc.) at Markham Meadows Campground in East Hampton, Ct. close to Trial Grounds. Call (860) 267-9738 for reservations and directions to camp ground.

Directions

From North - take 91 south to 9 south to first light in Middletown. At light take right and follow signs to Rt. 66 Portland. This will take you onto the Arigoni bridge across the Ct. River. When you cross the river stay right on Rt. 66 east to stoplight at Rt. 17 North. Turn left onto Rt. 17 North and then take the first right onto Ames Hollow Road. Go about a half a mile. The road will go down a hill. Take a right into the field at the bottom of the hill.

From South - take 91 north to the Middletown exit (Rt 66 east). Follow Rt 66 east (it becomes Washington Street) to down town Middletown. At Main Street take left and follow onto Bridge. From there follow directions above.

From Southeast - take 95 to 9 north at Old Saybrook. Follow 9 north to Middletown. At stop light take left and follow signs to Rt. 66 Portland. From there follow directions above.

From West - Take 691, which becomes Rt 66 to Middletown. From there follow directions above.

From East - Take Rt. 66 west past East Hampton to Rt. 17 north. From there follow directions above.

Note - As of January 1, 2003 all non ASCA registered dogs competing in ASCA stock trials will need a tracking number issued by ASCA to earn ASCA titles. Entries without an ASCA tracking number will not count towards titles and will be FEO. Tracking numbers can be obtained from ASCA (969)778-1082 or www.asca.org.
